Solis
We are branching out and have traveled to the central coast, Morgan Hill, Gilroy area to do some wine tasting. It’s a beautiful valley down here. It’s Wednesday around 4:00 and it’s pretty quiet, not surprisingly. We walk in and are greeted by a lovely gal working there. Initially, we are the only ones in the winery and then we are joined by a couple that are in and out in about 10 minutes. The tasting is 5 wines for $10.00. This includes a Chardonnay, Rose, Zin, Port and a couple of blends. Jackie loved the Chardonnay but as always it was just ok for me.. It did not have an oakey finish because they use stainless steel instead of oak. I love loved the Rose (Vino Roseo) – and I haven’t bought a bottle of wine on our journey yet, so that has to say something! ;-) – it was crisp and clean and fabulous for a hot summer day, I can’t wait to jump in with both feet or one mouth.. The Zin was pretty nice but no wow factor but the Port.. oh the port was delicious and was served with a bit of chocolate just to give it even a bit more flavor. Very nice. The winery was small but class with a beautiful view of the vineyards in the back – They have over 30 acres in total. You can buy a bunch of snacks and have a picnic. For $20 you get salami, crackers and cheese and for $25 it also includes a chocolate bar and some olives. Ladies, they did have hooks for the purses.. they also had complimentary crackers while tasting. Overall, I enjoyed this place, great service, solid wine, beautiful view. When you’re out in the valley I would highly recommend stopping by.
